Story
Earlier this year I lost my closest mate to bowel cancer. During his last weeks he was looked after by the wonderful people at the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted. So when the opportunity to take part in the Hurry Scurry Invitation race at the Herts Show came along, with a £200 charity cheque prize, I thought I know just the organisation who will make excellent use of that. However it is for the winner only, so I have decided to hedge my bets and see if I can collect a little sponsorship should I not win. You may not have seen scurry racing before, it is a bit like chariot racing but hopefully not so much blood. As I have never done this before I have a crash course booked and I have upped my personal insurance. I think the ponies will be doing all the work at the front and I have just to hang on, very tightly, at the back and lean at the right moment. If you would like to come and support me or have a good chuckle the race will take place at the Herts Show in the Jubilee Arena around Mid-day on Sunday 24th May. I will not lie about doing months of training, spending hours in a sauna or eating plates of lettuce but that does not make the cause any less worthy and I would appreciate it if you can find a few quid for the Hospice of St Francis.
