Story

Each Year 8 get to choose a charity they wish to support every year.  Quite naturally, it has often been the case that a cause close to their own lives or families resonates: and so it is once again this year. This proximity to the lived experience of others can really help the children join the dots between their philanthropic fundraising efforts and the tangible outcome for the beneficiaries.

The Story

Imagine having to inject yourself every single time you ate or drank anything for the rest of your life… even for a glass of milk. Well, that’s exactly what two pupils at Kings Hall do every day to keep themselves alive. They are two of the 29,000 determined, amazing children in the UK who cope with having type 1 diabetes through no fault of their lifestyle nor their diets.

One of these resilient pupils is in Year 8 and the other has a brother in Year 8. It’s little wonder then that their indomitable spirit has combined with Year 8’s desire to make a difference and help people in choosing our 2022 Year 8 leavers charity:

The Josh Evan’s Trust Fund.

JETF is a local charity, founded in memory of a rugby-obsessed young man determined not to let his diabetes get in the way of living life to the full.  A diagnosis of
type 1 can be difficult for everyone involved. JETF can help make it just a little bit easier. They
support the local NHS infrastructure, give practical assistance, fund diabetic technology for families that cannot afford it themselves, and organise events so diabetic children and their families around Somerset can build support connections and know they are not alone. In short, they help diabetic children seize the day.

We wish for every child to grow up happy and healthy and have the opportunity to participate with their peers and live life to the full  - please help Year 8 help JETF make this a little more possible for all
children with Type 1 diabetes.

We would like to thank you all for helping to support the children with their fundraising efforts.
