Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are fundraising to create a Garden, within the grounds of Kettering General Hospital, for patients in the Intensive Care Unit to access for rehabilitation and to spend quality time with loved ones.
The average stay on the ICU is now approximately 21 days. This is a considerable length of time to be spent on the ward, within a bed, with little exposure to natural daylight and fresh air. Although visiting has now resumed to the Unit it is not suitable for young children to come on to the ward, or even pets. Therefore a Garden area to take patients to enjoy the outdoors would be a massive benefit to our patients rehabilitation and mental health. Being able to differentiate between daytime and nighttime is a key tool to being able to rehabilitate to life outside the hospital.
We would like to build a peaceful Garden area for patients to enjoy this time away from the ward area. Our fundraising target is £5,000.00 - this would cover the work to the area, landscaping, fencing, plants/shrubs and also a mural for the outdoor wall.
Donations would be thoroughly appreciated to pay for the services, however we would be open to receive donations in forms of plants or shrubs for the area. This could even be as a memorial for a loved one. Please contact me on h.worland@nhs.net if you would like to arrange to make a physical donation.
