Story
Many of you know Kelly Dunn our director and founder of KD Recruitment. The last 12 months have been difficult for everyone during the pandemic, however It's been a particularly difficult time so far for her and her family as her mum has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Julie is well known in the Filey area from her time running the Crown public house, and then having a brilliant career at Morrisons before taking redundancy 3 years ago to support Kelly with childcare so she could move forward with running her own business as well as caring for her elderly mother.
Julie is an amazing mum to Kelly and Stephen with 5 beautiful grandchildren. Wife to Keith and daughter to Norma. She is only 63 years old and this horrendous disease has taken hold within the last 10 months.
Motor Neuron Disease is a devastating and incurable disease and has no treatment or a cure. It effects the whole body over time where your muscles deteriorate until they stop working. Those with MND will ultimately end up in a wheelchair, they often lose the ability to speak and swallow. This is a fatal disease with the average life expectancy of around 2.5 years.
We are going to do everything we can to raise money for the local Scarborough and Bridlington branch of the MND Association so that they can support others who are suffering, their family members and also look into the vital research that is needed to find a treatment and a cure.
Cathy Wood, one of our Consultants has pledged to cycle 1000 miles throughout the month of August to try and raise £1000.
Six people are diagnosed with this disease everyday as well as six people die every day in the UK from MND.
The MND Association needs money to put towards research into this terrible and uncurbable disease. The more we can do to help, the better chances they have of helping others suffering every day with this horrendous disease.
