Back-to-Back Charity Ski Marathons

MORE NEWS!

(Item 2: 13.03.12) I've come back from Pontresina, Switzerland where my GB nordic coaching group (www.totallynordic.com) was based for the 44th Engadin Ski Marathon, in which I and 12,000 people took part. 42km freestyle skiing, which I've practiced much less than classic style (and it showed!) A week of training at altitude in the dry air in Switzerland, then the race, delighted that I was fortunate enough to complete this second half of the challenge. Again, great organisation, and thanks for the mattresses on the trees in the Shaz Forest section downhill...

(Item 1: 29.02.12) I've returned from 5 days in Mora, Sweden, having completed the HalvVasan Race on Tuesday 28 February 2012, among more than 4,000 cross-country skiers. It was a wonderful, perfect, sunny day; I only fell about 5 times! Thanks so much to the Swedish Vasaloppet organisation for all their work and assistance; the Vasalopps-buns, blåbärssoppa, and even the plain vatten were wonderful!

I'm raising money for the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) through back-to-back cross country ski marathons (one down, one to go!) I can be spotted rollerskiing along local bike paths in training for this skiing challenge, such as at Lammas Land, out to Burwash Manor, Coton from West Cambridge, and out to Shelford via the complex of roads and great new paths next the train station guided bus-way.

The NSPCC’s mission is close to my heart. Too many children are treated badly not only in far-flung, poverty stricken places, but also closer to home in high-pressure, more affluent communities.

The NSPCC is now over 115 years old and has gathered immense amounts of experience of helping children and families across the UK and in working towards a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential.

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

None of the money went me or to any of my costs in the skiing trips.

Justin
