Story
Remember the Ice Bucket Challenge? And everyone in the UK saying, "What is this ALS we're raising money for?" Well, it's basically the same as the MNDA - Motor Neurone Disease Association. MND is a terrible disease which deprived the world of my wonderful grandmother so I'm doing something I love in her memory and to help others.
At 10am on Saturday 2 May 2015 I'll start running from Richmond along the Thames Path all the way to Oxford. This is 100 miles. On foot. The time limit is 28 hours and I'll be aiming to finish within 24 hours. (I ran 86 miles last year in about 19 and a half hours so this seems like a reasonable target.)
It might seem as though this extra 14 miles I'll be doing will be simple. It won't be. Last year, only 60% of those who started the Thames Path 100 finished it. There's a lot that can go wrong in 100 miles so I will be training harder than I ever have before over the next three months to make sure I finish. It won't be as funny as getting a bucket of icy water over my head but it'll sure as hell be a lot tougher.
So if you can make a donation to this cause, however large, I'd be very grateful. And don't forget to wish me luck. I'm going to need it.
