Story
It's hard to believe but the ever youthful, indomitable Ellen Jane Reynolds, my mum and matriarch of the Reynolds clan is 80 on 25th January. In a surprise to absolutely no-one, Mum has decided she does not want presents but would ask anyone who wants to donate in her name, to give money to Stirling and District Women's Aid.
Sadly, women and children continue to flee domestic violence, with 1 in 5 women experiencing domestic violence over their lifetimes and 2 women a week being killed by their current or former male partner.
Organisations like Stirling and District Women's Aid help women get back on their feet by providing: temporary refuge accommodation or support to access other safe housing; emotional and practical support; helping women get their point of view across to other services through advocacy, and support for children and young people under the age of 18 who are affected by domestic abuse.
If you want to celebrate Ellen's birthday then please give generously. I know she will be moved and grateful that our donations will support some of the most vulnerable women and children in her local area.
