Dear Supporter,

Hope you had a lovely Christmas and wishing you a fantastic 2012.

A few months ago I applied to be part of the Biggest Loser challenge in association with the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted.

I am pleased to say I was chosen although this does somewhat confirm how over weight I am! L

On the 5 Jan 2012 I will be embarking on my biggest challenge to date.

Along with 19 other people with similar weight issues we will be taking part in an 18 week long challenge to get fit and shift the pounds to raise pounds.

We will not be alone we have the support of a mentor, personal trainer, nutritional therapist and life coach. Each week we have two group workout sessions and the dreaded weigh in! We also get the personal training in between. At the end of the 18 weeks we have our final weigh in and the winner who loses the largest percentage of their body weight is crowned the Biggest Loser and wins some lovely prizes. (Although to me having better health from weight loss and improved fitness is the biggest prize I can ask for!)

I realise how lucky I am to be able to have this opportunity and I am determined to make every day of the 18 weeks count towards making some healthy changes.

As you know I have had back problems for a few years limiting my mobility and this has assisted me to pile on the pounds. I have had the all clear from the hospital so I can now embark on trying to get fit in a safe and supported way. I am hoping the weight loss and fitness regime may mean in time I can ditch some of the medication I take for problems associated with being overweight and maybe help us in having another baby which has so far proved difficult.

Those who know me well know what a difficult relationship I have  and have had for many years with food and my weight, hopefully this challenge is going to allow me to change this once and for all whilst hopefully raising lots of money for this amazing charity.

Sadly most of us have had our lives touched by Cancer and the local Hospice is an amazing place that offers a variety of support to those with cancer and their families. I really hope to be able to raise a great deal of money for them by doing this challenge.

I do not feel comfortable asking for sponsorship face to face and do not want to force anyone to sponsor me that doesn’t feel they want to, hence this letter.

If you would like to support me on this journey and help me raise money your sponsorship or donation will be very greatly received.

I will also be arranging some fundraising events to take place between now and May and donating the money from sales from my vintage EBay shop and upcoming vintage fairs.

I have set up a Just Giving web page as this is the easiest way to raise and record donations

Many thanks for taking the time to read through this.

So whilst munching on the last of the Christmas choc (all non healthy foods will be banned in our house from the 5, poor Ellie and Phil!) I wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year

With Love

Julie (hopefully the Biggest Loser!!)
