I first became aware of Animals Asia about eighteen months ago. I was totally heartbroken at the cruelty that human beings were inflicting on moon bears.  They are kept in tiny cages in China and Vietnam for up to thirty years whilst they are milked regularly for their bile.  Their bile is used in traditional medicine. There are lots of herbal alternatives but unfortunately bear bile farming still continues.

Animals Asia are making great progress and with our help they can continue to rescue many more of these beautiful bears. They have sanctuaries in China and Vietnam where bears are cared for and where they can live out the remainder of their lives with other rescued bears. 

Animals Asia are also involved in cat and dog welfare.  Millions of cats and dogs are slaughtered in China each year with millions more living in misery and terror on the streets.  Each year millions of cats and dogs (many of which are stolen pets) are sent to meat markets where they are beaten to death, strangled or stabbed.  

Animals Asia are currently transforming Nanning Bear Farm which was a former bear bile farm into a sanctuary.  They are helping to rescue and rehabilitate 130 moon bears in Nanning, China.  This is a massive project and it is only with our help and support that this can happen.

They are also raising awareness of zoos and safari parks and carry out investigations to identity animal welfare concerns. Animals Asia are helping to improve animal welfare standards and are going into schools to educate people that animals should not be used and abused for our entertainment.

Animals Asia are truly inspiring and are making such a difference to animals lives.

On the 23rd August 2014 a team of us are going to be walking/climbing Ben Nevis in support of Animals Asia and the wonderful work they do.  If you would like to help Animals Asia then it would be so appreciated.
