Story
As most people are aware by now, I am recovering from treatment which I received for breast cancer. I was diagnosed in October 2013. I underwent a lumpectomy operation on the 31st October followed by 6 rounds of Chemotherapy and 4 and a half weeks of Radiotherapy. I am very fotunate to now be cancer free. So I feel it is important to celebrate this and raise the profile of the importance of being mindful of your body and to give something back. Everyone thinks cancer won't happen to them, but sadly it could happen to anyone. Cancer does not discriminate on age, race , sex, it's not always hereditory, it can happen as quick as a flash to anyone and the news can be devestating. I have been lucky. My cancer was caught quickly and I have a good prognosis for the future. I would love to see a day where cancer no longer exists and to me the key to this is in the Research. Wouldn't it be amazing for them to find a cure? Therefore I am an avid supporter of Cancer Research UK and hope that I can raise as much money as possible for this charity.
I am holding a fundraising event on 31st August at The Rushley Pub in Mansfield. I am hoping to have a raffle, guess the sweets in the jar, name the teddy, a bouncy castle, face painting and glitter tattoos. I would like this to be a family friendly event for my friends and family to attend, enjoy, and raise money for charity. For those that can't attend I have opened this page so that people are still able to feel like they are participating in raising money with me for Cancer Research UK.
I am so grateful for anything that I can raise and really appreciate anything that people are willing to give. Thank you for taking time to read this and for your support in my quest.
