I'm running for Freedom from Torture, a human rights organisation that exists to support survivors of torture and organised violence. Over the last 18 months I have been volunteering intermittently for Freedom from Torture North East and I’ve had the privilege to meet and work with individuals who have left me humbled and inspired. I have learnt a great deal from the staff, volunteers, and clients at Freedom from Torture and I want to run this race to support and acknowledge the work they do.

Freedom from Torture is the only organisation in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of survivors of torture. The work done by the dedicated and passionate team is important and very difficult. I’ve witnessed the way in which it restores and saves lives. It is a unique organisation, working in an incredibly difficult field.
