Lockton Excom Charity Cycle Event
Fundraising for Alzheimer's Society
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the ‘Lockton Excom Charity Cycle Event’ in aid of Alzheimer's Society, the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those that care for them.
What is the challenge?
10 members of the Executive Committee at Lockton will be split into 2 teams "Lockton Chain Gang’ and ‘Julian's Wheels of Steel’ in a cycle relay challenge. One team - "Julian's Wheel of Steel" will cycle from our Manchester office to our Birmingham office and and the the other team " Lockton Chain Gang" will cycle from our Bristol office to our Birmingham office.
Both routes cover 165km, and I am obviously hoping that my team "Julian's Wheel of Steel" will reach Birmingham first! The challenge date is Thursday 27th May 2010.
Why sponsor me? Please sponsor me and give generously to support Lockton’s charity of the year Alzheimer's Society. A staggering 1 in 3 people will end their lives with dementia which is why your sponsorship is so hugely needed. Dementia is not a natural part of ageing; it can even strike people in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain and gradually robs people of their lives. This challenge will be tough but it is nothing in comparison to the difficulties faced by anyone who is directly or indirectly affected by Alzheimer's.
