Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit the Cross Ash PTFA JustGiving page.
Well, once again we are taking on a challenge that is likely to push our limits both mentally and physically. "What are they doing this time?!" we hear you ask!
On 25th March a group of staff and parents (a few, but not all of us, are in the photograph above) are undertaking The South Wales Three Peaks Trial. This involves a 20 mile trek and a 5000' ascent which crosses over three prominent peaks around Abergavenny in Monmouthshire: Blorenge, Sugar Loaf and Skirrid. Although never too far from civilisation the trek has no obvious route, so while climbing and clambering we shall also be endeavouring to read a map and use a compass!
This challenge is being undertaken for the benefit of our pupils. The funds raised will be put to good use with the conversion of our existing library into two smaller work spaces for group study. The staff changing room has already been converted into a small library by Charlie Cryer and this now awaits refurbishment and new reading material. Hopefully, with your support and donations, all this will be completed by the summer term.
The Three Peak Trial will be difficult; training has begun and is going well, but the prospect of 20 miles and 5000 feet in 8 hours is a daunting one. The team spirit is fantastic and we are all determined to succeed in this testing challenge. Both staff and parents are involved in this event and it has been a wonderful opportunity to join together on a project that will benefit our pupils and children in so many ways.
If you could sponsor us we would be tremendously grateful. We shall continue to post news of our training as we approach the date of the challenge. On the day itself Andrew Jenkins, one of our parents, will be following us around the course, camera in hand, to capture our finest moments - and possibly some of our not so finest! These will be available to see on the school website.
