Story
When mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer three and a half years ago it came as a shock. It was even more of a shock when she sadly succumbed just five weeks later, we had no idea she was so ill. Ovarian cancer is known as the silent killer, well it most certainly is and we were unaware of the symptoms at the time. My Aunt died from cervical cancer a few days later. So when I sat in my Slimming World class in October and was flicking through the monthly magazine, I saw the advertisement for a sponsored 350km cycle ride across India in aid of three cancer charities (Breast cancer care, Ovarian cancer action and Jo’s Cervical cancer trust) it got me thinking............it would give me another goal, help me loose more weight and get fitter, also it would enable me to do that something that I pledged I would do when I lost mum, so to me it’s a no-brainer really! It’s going to be one hell of a challenge for me and a lot of people have suggested that I’m mad, and I’m sure they’re right, but if me doing this can help raise awareness and money for research and maybe even save a life, even just one, then it’ll all be worth it.
So, onwards and upwards!!! I know mum will be with me every step of the way and hopefully she’ll be pushing me from behind too!
Love Jude xx

Well its now been 2 weeks since I decided to take on this challenge, I think the reality has now hit home.... The training has started with an average of 26 miles a week on the bike, 30 min swim and 1 hour of zumba! we are making progress, this all from the girl who never exercised. Its hard to think that in a years time I will have completed the 350km bike ride, no doubt I will have a very sore bottom but it will have all been worth it!!! I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone that has donated already... I will continue to plague you all so I apologise now!!!!! actually no I don't LOL xx
Feb 2012
Well the date is getting closer and the training has slowed down due to the weather......The fund raising is still going in the right direction....As the sponsorship is coming in more and more ladies are telling me that they have had or are suffering with cancer and with each of these stories it makes me realise we really need to do something to stop it.... so onwards and upward thanks for donating already and for those who haven't please do so!!!!! even if its a small amount every bit helps xxxx
April 2nd 2012
Its now the beginning of April.....I have started doing longer rides 20 to 30 miles with shorter rides in between...The bottom is very sore when I have done the long rides but I have been told it does improve!!! I bloody hope so..
I was watching Sport relief with John Bishop and the agony he went through and I'm only doing 28 miles less, so I think I now need to start preparing myself mentally as well as physically!!!!! mind you he was cycling, running and rowing!!!
Anyway as you can see I have reached my minimun target for fund raising, that has taken a weight off my mind. However, I am now thinking how much more we can go for and what a difference it will make........ when you are donating please give as much as you can thank you xxx
Well with 10 sleeps until the challenge, I have trained through wind rain hail and a little sun this year, When I signed up over 12 months ago I never realised I would give a year of my life to train. I have to say I wouldn't change a thing.. Carrying on with the story, the sun has however, been out at the right times when Ian and I did the 50 mile Liverpool to Chester and back! Also, when I met all my new friends at the training weeekend then everytime we have met up since during this year I have had some sad news too. I have lost 2 friends and also known another 4 people indirectly that have lost their fight! So the time is coming to put my training to the test and hopefully complete this challenge
