Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Whilst the country nearly fell apart over Brexit , my own world nearly crumbled as this Father's Day my dad was sadly in hospital after a major heart attack at home followed by a triple cardiac arrest at A&E. Thankfully, Dad is on the path to a good recovery and life is better. During this difficult time, the staff at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital were beyond amazing in the care and support they gave my Dad.
Unfortunately, coronary care units are becoming a rather familiar venue to hang out in recent years for various members in my family have gained membership into what I call the 'Cardiac Club'. When studying my Msc.in Health Psychology, I always remembered the statistic that Asian communities are at 5 times increased risk of coronoary heart disease.
The only running I have done in recent years is around the supermarket, dashing for the tube or running to get to auditions on time. So, entering the '2016 Spotlight Challenge' is a 10k run which is not only a way to kickstart my own fitness so that I can hopefully avoid entering the 'Cardiac Club' but it's also a way to express my gratitude for the care given to my Dad and others and to support those who may benefit in the future. For anyone wanting to cheer on myself and fellow runners, the run is taking place at Regent's Park at 10am on September 11th.
