Story
Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you in advance for any donations made!
WHAT AM I DOING?
My sister and I are running a marathon, in that we are both running a half marathon and I am measuring cumulatively. I am genuinely dreading this - I am chronically bad at distance running. In my second year of university, my College football team gave me the 'Samit Patel Award' for worst fitness (across all three teams, some 40 odd players). More Danish Blue than Oxford Blue. Since this time, I've done absolutely nothing to ameliorate things. It's not been a great decade for me, fitness-wise. Think Gimli in The Two Towers.
So I am going to try to break the habits of a lifetime. I don't think I've ever run so much as a 10K before. I know I'm going to have to give up my daily block of cheese. But I am, for now at least, highly motivated. We'll see how it goes.
WHY AM I DOING THIS?
In the early hours of the 11th of June 2019, my mother lost her battle with peritoneal cancer. During her final weeks, she stayed at St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley, where she received amazing care, be it from nurses, therapists, chefs, volunteers, etc. The Hospice also helps the families of those suffering, with a fantastic counselling service available to anyone who needs it. I'm likely doing the Hospice a huge disservice in this description; they do so many other things I'm not even aware of and haven't mentioned. In any case, the Hospice relies on donations to keep going, and I hope my efforts and your donations can help at least in some small part. You can find out more about the Charity by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
