I’m really excited to have been selected to volunteer overseas with Y Care International on an International Citizen Service placement. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development
The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £1500 towards the work of Y Care and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.
The second part of my challenge will be spending 10 weeks in Liberia from 26th June - 4th September 2017. Here Y Care international work on projects that help young people in slums campaign for improvements. They also run projects which help address neglected health issues and offer positive activities for young people. Please bare in mind that my allocated country could change if certain circumstances change.
