Story
I'm going to be taking on the world's most famous 26.2 miles on Sunday 21 April for The Brain Tumour Charity.
My husband Alan was diagnosed with a Grade 4 glioblastoma in Spring 2021 - a day which shook our family irrevocably.
Despite multiple surgeries, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and novel treatments, Alan died just 15 months later - leaving behind our 2 young sons, Oscar and Lucian.
Throughout his diagnosis & treatment Alan remained resolute in his positivity and drive to ensure he could help others in similar situations as much as he could. The Brain Tumour Charity was a phenomenal support to him and he was passionate about sharing their work and services, which also included arranging a 10km sponsored walk raising over £4000!
Completing this marathon in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity is a huge personal challenge for me - to show our children how to thrive in the face of adversity and raise some money for a phenomenal charity in the process.
By running for The Brain Tumour Charity, I'm playing a huge part in The Charity's movement to help people with brain tumours live longer and better lives. Did you know that only 3% of cancer funding in the UK is spent on brain tumour research, despite it being the biggest killer of under 40s? Treatments haven't changed in over 40 years - its time to make a change!
So please dig deep and help motivate me to get out there for those training runs!
Now, first up - I better dust off those trainers!
