Story
I am not normally someone who treks up mountains - I tend to prefer taxis!
But I have decided to go on an epic week long trek into the Himalayas for ROOM TO HEAL, a brilliant grass-roots charity in London, which supports people who have survived torture and human rights abuses.
Room to Heal supports men and women from over 30 countries, from Afghanistan to the Ivory Coast, Albania to Syria. Some have been tortured for political reasons, some persecuted because of their sexuality or religious identity, others have been trafficked to the UK. Members think of Room to Heal as their family and their home, offering them hope and a place of belonging. The charity works with experienced therapists to help people address the legacy of their traumatic experiences and rebuild their lives in exile. Their casework and therapy teams work hand in hand to help each member address the many challenges they face, supporting each individual over the long term in their journey towards healing.
I've paid all the costs of the trip myself, but I'd love you to sponsor my trek, so that I can raise a lot of money to help people through Room to Heal.
