Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In order to raise money for diabetes UK I am intending to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in July of this year whilst I am still 15.
As a type 1 diabetic myself I fully understand and appreciate the importance of research in the fight against diabetes and it is for this reason that I hope to raise as much money as possible.
Living with diabetes is a real struggle especially during the teenage years. I found it very hard to inject four times a day when I was a kid but now I have got an insulin pump, which is always on me. I was diagnosed in the year 2006 and I am now in year 11 at St Bede’s school and doing my GCSE’s at the end of this school year.
I am aware of the problems with climbing this mountain with diabetes, as I will have to be doing blood glucose tests at temperatures as low as -25°c. I will have to store my insulin up close to my body to prevent it from freezing on the final push to the summit.
I am in training now to increase my stamina and of course, I am looking to raise as much money as I can through sponsorship from individuals and local companies.
