Story
Our beautiful son, Woody Witherspoon, was born at 11:23 am on Monday 25th July, weighting 7,6.
Cruelly, Woody was born with his cord around his neck and despite the best efforts of a myriad of doctors and nurses, in an excruciating couple of minutes, we were forced to say hello and goodbye to our perfect little boy.
Whilst you never want to find yourself needing to engage organisations that support bereaved parents and families, we couldn’t be more grateful to them for being there for us during our time of need.
CHUMS are a local mental health charity. In addition to many wonderful services, they have a team that offer counselling for bereaved parents. Unlike many of their other services, this is solely funded by charitable donations.
Thanks to CHUMS, within a week of us reaching out we had been assigned a counsellor. During their initial home visit, they spent over 2 hours talking with us and will be coming to see us on a regular basis over the coming months.
