Madagascar Bike Ride (Week 2) · 19 October 2013 ·
Last year in Sri Lanka, I had the honour of being part of team Douglas where we took it in turn to assist Douglas Silas and his specially modified trike.
Douglas has an incurable, progressive, neurological condition known as Cerebellar Ataxia and has used a wheelchair to get around for a few years, but with a little help from his friends he rode his trike across the whole of Sri Lanka!
Why do I mention this you ask....it's because Douglas isnt a Norwood client, he was raising money just like me because he believes that the work Norwood do to help those less fortunate than ourselves is truly amazing.
This is my 4th International ride and once again I am asking you to dig as deep as you can for this inspirational organisation.
This time the challenge takes place in Madagascar and its going to be very tough, very mountainous..not to mention hot and humid!
Madagascar is the world's fourth largest island and because of its isolation most of its mammals, half its birds, and most of its plants exist nowhere else on earth.
This five-day, 450km bike ride will take us from the capital of Madagascar – Antananarivo to the coastal town of Mahavelona.
