Story
Earlier this year, at my workplace Lloyd’s bank there was an opportunity to apply to be selected to raise money for our partnership charity -MENTAL HEALTH UK. The event consists of trekking parts of the Great Wall of China and raising as much money I can for the Mental Health Uk. Almost 700 staff, including myself from Lloyds banking group applied. After a selection process 35 people were lucky enough to be selected with me being one of 5 others on a reserve list. I must admit this was bitter sweet as I was so close to the 35, yet so far!! Unfortunately due to mitigated circumstances someone on the list had to pull out. This however has meant I now have the opportunity to be selected myself and I will be travelling to China in September to walk certain sections of the Great Wall!!! I wanted to do this as I feel this charity can make a difference. As many people know, I lost my own brother Daryl to suicide, and sadly unbeknown to us he must of been suffering. This trip can raise money for the charity and also help raise awareness of how prevalent mental health problems are in society today. So many close friends I have, reading this post have been affected either themselves with depression or by losing someone to suicide!!! Hopefully this walk can make some sort of difference for them!!! In the next few days I will be setting up a just giving page and arranging some fund raising events to make as much as I can, any donations , what ever they may be will be greatly appreciated, thanks, feel free to share ,shun x 👍🏻🇨🇳
