Story
Hi everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may or may not be aware, I am running the London Marathon in April 2016 to raise money for Diabetes UK. The main reason for this is that this has been on my "to do" list for a long time, and what better way to raise money than for a charity that is close to mine and my wife's heart.
Since the age of 7, Susie has been faced with daily monitoring, injections and endless medical appointments in order to help manage her Type 1 Diabetes. This has been a long road which will be a life-long condition she has to manage. To say that I am proud of how she manages her condition is an understatement. It is something that has never held her back, whether it has been her studying to become a physiotherapist, being a fantastic mother and wife, or being a brilliant hockey player!
She has certainly not had it easy since being diagnosed and there has been many ups and downs. However her determination to not let anything hold her back gives me the steely determination to raise money in aid of a charity that has in the past been a great support to her and the family. Having broken my ankle in December has somewhat hindered my training for the marathon, but with Susie's support and help, I know I can not only run the race, but raise the amount needed too!
Wouldn't it be great if we could find a cure for such a cruel condition? The progress in only the time I have known Susie has been staggering, and I'm sure with the on-going support, that a "cure" to Diabetes is on its way!
I really want to raise this money and completely obliterate the target, so please please PLEASE help me in donating anything you can to help achieve this and I promise that running the marathon will be that little easier - honest!
Thank you, and love you all, especially to my family and of course, to Susie, my rock and my world.
