Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Marathon des Sables 2011...

I decided to dedicate my training and this race to my mother, Elizabeth Anne Finnigan who passed away from Parkinson's disease in 2009.

She was a remarkably strong and humourous woman who never complained about her condition.  So if there's anything that keeps me going when I feel like my body wants to cave in - it's the thought of one of her bollockings.

When I ran my first marathon in 1984 I was less than a mile from the finish line when her car pulled along side me and she bollocked me for having my hair cut too short!!  Unbelievable.  I laughed all the way to the finish line like the naughty schoolboy I was.

This is the first time I've raised money for charity in this way, but now that I've seen how easy it is to set up through JustGiving I'll be taking on many more endeavours like this.

Thanks for reading :-)
