We fund research, campaign and support to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

In 2014, our family lost our much loved cousin Brendan, to bowel cancer. Tragically, Bren was the latest in a long line of our relatives who have fought this disease, some successfully, others not.

My Grandfather Jack died from the disease when he was aged 64 and his daughters (my Auntie's)  Maureen and Margaret (Brendan's Mum) both died from bowel cancer or related illness in recent years. My Father, Bernard, was diagnosed in 2003, but in his case thanks to an early diagnosis and the skill and care of his Surgeon and her team, is still going strong 12 years later at the age of 87!

Charities such as Beating Bowel Cancer do a tremendous amount of work in raising awareness of this terrible disease, which, if diagnosed sufficiently early can usually be successfully treated. They also provide enormous comfort and support to those affected.

Many of you generously sponsored my previous attempt at completing the London Marathon in 2014 which was aborted in February 2014 as a result of a knee operation. This time, I am determined to see this through!!

Your sponsorship of me will provide crucial funds to support the aims of this fantastic charity and I am eternally grateful to you all for your encouragement and support.

Thank you
