Progress so far...40 miles of swimming (100% complete) as of 25th Sep 2014
Hello,
This year I plan to raise money along with BG Group to
support the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).
To do this I plan to clock up 40 miles of swimming in the
pool over the 4 month period 26th May to 26th Sept then climb the
UK’s highest mountain Ben Nevis on the 27th Sept (not in my
speedos!).
Ben Nevis stands at 1,344m almost a mile (1,609m) high and
40 off BG volunteers have agreed to do the ascent. The swim represents a mile
for every person making the climb.
I’m not the fastest of swimmers so 40 miles is around 30
hours of swimming over the 4 month period.
40 miles = 64.36 km = 30
hours swimming = 3600 x 18m lengths
Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest
mountain – standing proud at 4,409 feet above the town of Fort William and Loch
Linnhe.
Whatever you donate it all helps to save lives. I will be
sponsoring myself to fund my own expenses for the climb so 100% of your
sponsorship will go directly to the RNLI.
The RNLI
is the charity that ‘helps save lives at sea’
In 2012, The RNLI lifeboats were launched 8,321 times.
There are over 236 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland,
including Aberdeen, Stonehaven and Peterhead.
Many thanks in advance Jonathan
