Story
Well this is the end of the road for my running - over the years I've completed around half a dozen half-marathons, but my knees are now being put out to pasture due to having no cartilage left. Through people's generosity I've raised over £2,000 for charity but regrettably as I've been told to stop running by the medical folks who know best I'm having one last hurrah for the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, so please give generously. For every £ donated, my employer, Microsoft will match the donation. This will be a painful one - running 3 miles is very uncomfortable, but I'm finishing in style by doing 2 half marathons, Wilmslow in the UK and Gothenburg in Sweden during March and May respectively. I'll then round this off with the Tough Mudder Yorkshire (12 mile obstacle course) on Yorkshire Day - 1st August.
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust offered Keri and I help, support and advice after a ruptured ectopic pregnancy nearly cost Keri her life back in 2011. It's largely thanks to their guidance that our beautiful Son, Luca is here today. They rely on charity donations and raise awareness of this condition which has affected me and my family personally. I know that folks are inundated with sponsorship requests so I appreciate your time and consideration. If you'd like to know the difference even £5 can make to the EPT then please see here: http://www.ectopic.org.uk/get-involved/donate/.
Ectopic Pregnancy is a common, life threatening condition that is the leading cause of death in early pregnancy. It affects 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK and women who suffer have to face the physical trauma of major invasive treatment, their own mortality, the impact on their future fertility and the sad loss of losing their baby all very quickly. This can be a very frightening and distressing experience.
