Story
Tom (aged 8) explains why he is doing the sleep out:
"I think that homelessness is cruel. Shouldn’t all people have houses and bedrooms? (and of course TVs)
When I am in London I see quite a few homeless people. I even saw some people living on the streets when I went to France.
If you could donate some money then we could possibly save a few more people from living on the streets and they might at least get some shelter and some food.
So please donate – even a £1 will help!"
Tom and I will be sleeping out in central London on Friday 18th October to raise money for the great work of the West London Day Centre. For over 40 years the centre has been at the cutting edge of homelessness and every day they help over a 100 homeless people.
Sadly rough sleeping is going up at the moment - especially in central London where WLDC is situated. WLDC offers a warm welcome with cooked breakfast and showers available. The centre also has an in-house NHS team with a doctor and nurse and a computer resource room where people can develop skills and search for jobs. Perhaps most importantly, they have a dedicated team of project workers who help homeless people come off the streets for good. Last year they helped 315 people come off the streets.
The centre gets very little government money and is dependent on donations. So please dig deep and support this great cause!
