Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After successfully completing the Great North Run in 2010 I am entering the 2011 run, this time I shall be running in aid of TAMBA and be supported by Gonul, Poppy and Harry.
When Gonul and I found out that we were going to have twins we made the decision to join TAMBA (The Twins and Multiple Births Association), a charity set up by parents of twins, triplets and higher multiples and interested professionals. Their campaigns, research and support services directly help thousands of parents and professionals meet the unique challenges that multiple birth families face.
At 03:45 on Sunday 17th April 2011 Gonul gave birth to Poppy, who was shortly followed by Harry. We feel very fortunate to have two healthy babies who had no need to have a stay in a Neonatal Unit, but we are well aware that the start of life for many multiples and their families involves a stay.
This is where we can all can help by raising funds to save and improve lives by supporting TAMBA's work. The latest TAMBA magazine gave a few facts and figures about what they do and how much it costs:
£100 pays for 20 expectant parents to attend a class to prepare them for their babies being in neonatal care.
£500 pays for 30 families to receive intensive support by phone.
£1,000 pays for detailed advices and campaigns to stop families from being split up across different hospitals.
£3,000 pays for TAMBA to provide free booklets to 5,000 families with one or more of their babies in intensive care.
£9,000 pays for in-depth research into the needs of expectant families.
£15,000 pays for a campaign worker to raise awareness of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome and ensure parents get lifesaving treatment at the right time.
