Story
We made it!
Having visiting three of Nairobi's biggest slums on the first day in Africa, including one exising School of Hope, one planned site for a future project to be funded from this challenge, and a third school in operation, we headed out of Kenya and into Tanzania.
6 days on the Rongai route, approaching Kilimanjaro from the north, climibing up to 1000 metres in altitude over many kilometres each day, we made the summit shortly after day break on 25th July.
We returned exhausted but proud to have completed the Challenge, and incredibly grateful for all of the generous donations we have received. One former School of Hope pupil spoke to us and described how the simple provision of a safe building with tables and chairs, lighting and textbooks had transformed his life and allowed him fulfill his academic ambitions; we hope that future Schools of hope will provide similar chances to other very under-priviliged children in Nairobi.
Thank you.
Someone once told me that charity isn't really charity unless it hurts a little.
I'm aiming to raise £5895 - £1 for every metre of the mountain. This total would allow ChallengeAid to build a new School of Hope.
Thank you for donating whatever you can to a charity which will make a huge difference to the lives of children in Korogocho, Nairobi.
