We support Birmingham Children's Hospital to improve the lives of sick children

Story

I am raising money for the Magic of Milly who strive to raise funds for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The Magic of Milly was set up in March 2015 by a friend and colleague of mine Emma Hill following the death of her daughter Milly. Milly spent much of her two short years at the Birmingham's Children's hospital and received outstanding treatment and care by the staff. I never met Milly myself but know that she was a delightful and brave young child. Her parents also went through their own trauma and endured such a tough time hardly leaving Millys side as she fought her battles. Tragically she passed away but her legacy is not forgotten and she continues to be remembered by many. I hope to help give a little back to such a fabulous hospital that has supported so many children across the country. They provide such an amazing service to those in need of their expertise.

The charity was set up to provide support for patients, parents and families visiting the hospital and also provides bereavement support for parents.

A bit about the hospital.......

At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital. Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.

A bit about me............I am a sprightly 54 year old who will be 55 at the time of the running the marathon on the 28th April 2019 - my target time is 5.5 (five and a half hours !) - If I am honest I prefer to run with a ball or a racket but I am inspired to complete the London Marathon to raise as much as I can for such a good cause and also to get to a level of fitness that I haven't yet experienced !!

I will no doubt be harassing a lot of people in the next few months and hope to smash my target !!
