Hello to all you people who clicked on this link. You have made it this far. Who knows how far we've made it by this point? Hell, Chris already set off on Monday, he's set off from Loughborough today, whilst I write this sentence. When I found out he was cycling to Africa on his own, only something thuper duper therious would have made me not go with him.

When I rang him to ask what he was doing, he said, "I'm cycling to Africa for charity, because I heard there are kids in Africa who are thirsty and would like a drink of water." Although seemingly dumbed down, this is not too far off his actual words.

I agreed to think about joining him, and after support from my lovely mum, I was set on the idea of travelling a ridiculous amount of km, through France, Belgium, Germany, back through France again, then all the way down the Spanish Coast, before finally cheating and getting a boat across the Straits of Gibraltar, all in the name of getting some thirsty kids something to drink.

Admittedly, if we were hardcore we'd have biked across the sea, or died trying. Ok, we'd have died trying.

Here's where you come in; you don't have to put in the effort that we will, all you have to do is give whatever you can, to make all the effort worth something. I say whatever you can... but don't ponce around with 5p donations. Give a proper amount. We could actually die on this thing. I suppose you could argue that anyone could actually die at any time, and, y'know...that's a good point. 

I think what is special about this trip, is that neither of us are mega fit, or especially good at living on the road (I am going to have to let Chris teach me how to put up a tent). We generally have no clue what awaits us, but we relish the challenge of whatever is foolish enough to try and stop us. And despite the magnitude of our challenge, what we are trying to achieve is simple: get some thirsty children some water. Personally, I struggle to think of a nobler cause.
