Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those who know me, the idea of my jumping out of a plane, 12,000ft up, may seem rather 'different'. That's because, it is! I'm not keen on heights and I'm not keen on confined spaces but oddly enough, I've always wanted to do a parachute jump!
Why now? Well, this June will mark the 10th anniversary since my father Lance Cole passed away.
He was born with a hole in the heart and throughout his life, had many health-related challenges to overcome. It is said that his doctors said to him that it was a medical miracle that he managed to live for as long as he did. When he passed away in 2003, Dad was 66 years old.
As a result of all of the heart-related support that he received throughout his life, we as a family have been particularly supportive of the British Heart Foundation and this is where they come in.
The newly launched BHF Cymru appeal is to raise £200,000 over 2 years to buy defibriliators for those rural communities in Wales that live beyond the 'Golden 8 Minutes' from an Ambulance Station.
There are many such areas in Ceredigion and west Wales and I would therefore like to help raise funds for this critically important appeal.
As there is a cost for making the jump of around £400-500, I have stated that in the 10 week window that I have before I do the jump in Mid-May that I would like to raise £2,500 for the cause so that after the jump costs have been paid, there is a clear £2,000+ that will go direct to the BHF.
UPDATE! I have now increased the target to £3,000 due to popular demand and I will be paying for a good amount of the costs of the jump myself, leaving at the very most, £300 from money raised to pay the balance. So if we can raise £3,000, at least £2,700 will go to the appeal to pay for 3 defibrillators (which cost around £900 each).
NEWER UPDATE! I have now increased the target to £4,250 due to still ridiculously popular demand and will be paying for the majority of the costs of the jump myself, leaving now, just £200 from money raised to pay the balance. So if we can raise £4,250, then with Gift Aid of at least £500 on top, that will mean over £4,500 will go to the appeal to pay for 5 defibrillators (which cost around £900 each).
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now for this worthwhile cause and help me remember my father Lance as we approach the 10th anniversary of his passing, with a small donation for a charity that means a lot to us as a family.
