Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Lands End to John O'Groats is about1,000 miles. My brother in law, Neil, and I are cycling this route starting on 30 July, aiming to finish by 11 August. This means that we will need to cycle between 90 and 100 miles daily and although I am a keen cyclist this is quite a feat! We will be entirely self-supporting, carrying camping equipment with us so that we can stay flexible in terms of where we stay each night. So some days we will stay on a campsite, some days just wherever we end up - perhaps a pub beer garden or a roadside grass verge. Occasionally we may treat ourselves to a B&B! I have done long distance cycle rides in the past, particularly as part of triathlons, but two weeks of 100 miles a day is going to be a whole new experience!
I am undertaking this challenge for charity and hope you will feel you are able to sponsor me and make a donation through this page. My chosen charity is the Motor Neurone Disease Association. I have recently lost a family member to this disease and it is truly a cruel illness. My sister in law, Carole, was diagnosed in June 2019 and passed away on 23 March 2020. Her decline was rapid and heartbreaking to watch. The MND association need donations to help fund research into a cure. I would be really grateful for any amount you feel you are able to spare to sponsor me.
