Story
Saferoad’s 2nd
annual Charity walk 8th June 2019 over the Lake Districts’ Bow Fell
Saferoad is fundraising to support the work undertaken by
the mental health charity; Hull, East
Yorkshire & North East Lincs Mind.
1 in 4 people are suffering with their mental health in the
UK. In 2017 there were nearly 6,000 suicides registered in the UK. Amongst men
aged 20-49 years old suicide is the most common form of death.
For every person that takes their own life there are many
more people who cared about them. With this in mind we are looking to raise
money to support those struggling with the loss of loved ones through suicide.
Prevention support is already happening, but bereavement support is an area
that is seriously underfunded.
Therefore, please help us to provide much needed funds to
support as many people as possible.
Hull & East Yorkshire & North East Lincs Mind is
part of National MIND but offers services in our head office’s locality. They
already offer bereavement support for people living in the East Riding, and are
looking to develop this further, working alongside the Police and other
partners so that they can do this in the most appropriate way possible over a
wider area.
In order to raise funds a large number of Saferoad’s staff
have volunteered to push our bodies to the limit and conquer the Lake
District’s mighty Bow Fell, by walking 10 miles and climbing 3,340 feet over
true mountain terrain. The walk will take 8-9 hours and will test our endurance
to the max.
Please support our cause.
