Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I want to do something tangible to show my support for our fantastic friends Tim, Kim and the amazingly courageous and gorgeous Toby. They are going through one heck of a tough time at the moment.Tim posted the message below on Facebook which explains things really well:
Tim said "Since he was 8 weeks old Toby has had bad epileptic seizures, 3 weeks ago we had the devastating diagnosis that he has Dravet Syndrome.
Dravet is a severe life limiting genetic condition causing several types of seizures. Over the coming years his varying degrees of developmental delay will become apparent. Other symptoms such as ataxia (unsteadiness), sleep disturbance, and behaviour problems – may also develop. Sadly there is also a higher risk of sudden unexplained death in epilepsy (SUDEP) for children with Dravets.
We’re very lucky to have found the Dravet Syndrome UK charity who have already invited us and many families to a weekend at Center Parcs where we’ve met many positive and supportive people. The charity funds many other things including research and monitors which alert parents to seizures during the night which help to reduce the chances of sudden death.
Our little boy is still gorgeous, happy Toby and we’re very proud and lucky to have him brightening all our lives. We will be raising money and supporting Dravet Syndrome UK with the fantastic work they do to help families with Dravet Children..."
So, I am taking part in my first open water swim triathlon without having completed any previous open water swims... fear not, I have completed one triathlon before and went for a swim in the sea in Greece recently, so it'll be just the same in a lake in Doncaster won't it???
Please help support Tim & Kim, and other families by raising funds for the Dravet Syndrome UK charity. They have provided great support to all the O'Grady's. Thank you!
