Story
We have set up this page in memory of our Dad, husband, brother and dear friend, the man and the musician Joe McGinley.
In 1997 Joe was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, later revised to Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. While in Glasgow he was treated at the Victoria, in the last four years since moving to Devon he was treated at the Haematology Centre of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He was admitted there on the 24th December with a suspected infection, and died on the 31st December.
As his family it was a wonderful privilege to be with him in his last days, getting the time to tell him how much he was loved, and to hear how much he loved us. We were able to provide him with care and comfort. This was made possible through the work of the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF), who support the families and patients of the Haematology Centre, who provided us with a place to stay, allowing us to be closer to him. We are all so grateful to have been able to do that.
Many of you have asked about donations and we feel it appropriate that these should be made to ELF and in the name of the man who lived life to the full.
