We are raising £4600 because Joe an employee of MAN Truck and Bus on October 6th 2024 is riding a bicycle covering a distance of 500Km across Kenya from Nyeri through Eldoret to Kisumu by the shores of Lake Victoria to help transform lives in Kenya with Transaid Kenya 2024 Challenge. This challenge will involve cycling through Nyeri at the foothills of Mount Kenya to Lake Victoria in extreme temperatures, tough road terrain and elevation. Transaid is a charity who work in Sub-Saharan Africa helping transform lives in 3rd world countries through assisting with road safety awareness and infrastructure development. Road accident deaths are the third biggest killer in Africa following HIV/AIDS and Malaria and the problem will only rise with the growing population. Drivers are also at risk every time they sit behind the wheel due to a lack of legal enforcement, training and poorly maintained and overloaded vehicles these vehicles many of them imported from Europe.
Transaid recently in 2022 also visited Malawi. Over the years Transaid has delivered both access to healthcare and professional driver training programmes in Malawi the most recent of these involving bicycle ambulance as a simple, yet highly effective, life saving mode of transport.
“Looking at the plight that these people go through due to lack of these much-needed infrastructures is one reason I have embarked on this challenge to play part and raise funds to help out. Please sponsor me”.
