Story
In early August (delayed until summer 2025) I will cycle from John O'Groats in north Scotland, down to Lands End in Cornwall unsupported on my road bike. I will be doing a mixture of camping, B&B's and sleeping on roadsides in the hope of doing the ride in 10-12 days which is roughly 1,147 miles.
I want to do this to bring more awareness around ALK Lung Cancer, and to thank the amazing charities that supported, and looked after Alix who sadly passed away on Saturday 14th January 2023 at the age of 29.
Alix was a non-smoker, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 ALK-positive lung cancer—which had spread to her liver, lymph nodes, shoulder, spine, and pelvis. Throughout all of Alix's diagnosis and treatment, she was always posting updates on social media which I loved watching, because it always shocked me that someone with the weight of the world on their shoulders, still managed to laugh, smile and put on a brave face.
Alix is a true inspiration for the awareness she brought around ALK Lung Cancer, and the support she provided other people suffering with the condition, all whilst coming to terms with it herself.
I urge you all to look through this, just to see how amazing Alix is:

It doesn't matter whether you smoke or not, ANYONE WITH LUNGS CAN GET LUNG CANCER.
