We are raising funds for Children’s Cancer North to help our son Spencer and other children living with cancer.
On 15th October 2020, at just age 6, our son Spencer was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (a cancer of the blood) and our world was turned upside down.
Spencer endured 9 tough months of intense chemotherapy and despite losing his hair and having multiple hospital stays, his bravery and resilience never ceased to amaze us. He always had a smile on his face and took each day as they came, even attending homeschool through lockdown and returned to full time school once schools reopened.
Spencer started his 3 year ‘maintenance stage’ of treatment in March 2021, where he continues to have daily chemotherapy, as well as multiple other medications. We attend hospital visits for further chemotherapy treatment and tests every two weeks and this will continue until March 2024. He will then be almost 10 years old.
Being told your child has cancer is heartbreaking. The last 20 months have been tough, it has been traumatic for us all as a family but Spencer gets us through the toughest of days, he is our little hero and a true inspiration.
The care and support we have received from the RVI in Newcastle has been non comparable. They are saving our boys life and we can not thank them enough. We now want to show our appreciation by giving something back, but we need your help!
Please donate if you can, every penny will make a difference, helping to fund life-saving research into treatments and cures for childhood cancer and supporting children going through treatment.
