Story
Hi Everyone,
So I have now finished the Brighton Marathon in a time that I am extremely pleased with, 3 hours 57 mins 03 secs!
It was difficult to say the least, the strategy was to try and stick with the 3:45 pace maker for as long as possible and I managed to until around the 17 mile mark, but by that point I knew that if I just kept moving at a reasonable pace I would finish under 4 hours. Then as they say ‘I hit the wall’, imagine a brick wall that’s 4 miles thick, that is what it felt like!
I made a deal with myself half way round, if I finished in over 4 hours I would sign up to do it again next year, and I definitely knew I didn’t want to go through this again any time soon! As the hamstrings were tightening and the feet were blistering I could see the 23 Mile marker and the watch was reading 3hrs 29mins, I knew I was on for it, crowds were getting bigger and the cheers were getting louder the further I went on. With the finish line in sight, I past family and friends and the only thing I could hear was my name being called, the feeling was indescribable!
Completing a marathon was probably the biggest thing I have ever achieved, as well as being the hardest but also extremely enjoyable and nothing compares to that feeling when crossing the finish line.
I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far, we have raised an incredible amount and exceeded any expectation in my mind and it’s all down to your generosity.
