Story
Thank you for taking the time to donate in memory of Joanne. The staff at Gate 21 and ICU at Pinderfields Hospital did all that they could to help Jo. The charity will ensure any funds raised will be used to the benefit of the staff and patients on those wards.
Jo’s smile, positive outlook and willingness to listen brought a lot of happiness to many people. A sentiment that has been consistent in all the messages of condolence.
With Jo in my corner I felt I could take on the world. I missed her terribly when away at sea, but wherever I was, a call home made me feel so much better. She always put her own fears and worries to one side and encouraged me that all was well and we’d get through the separation.....we shared a phrase from the very early days of our relationship if I had to travel away. “This won’t be forever”. We knew that ultimately we would be together forever, and no more separation.....
She had an inner strength in dealing with life’s challenges (including the ones created by me), and she did it with dignity and never with compliant. The staff at Gate 21 admired her for this too.
Whenever I saw her smile, I knew I had married the most beautiful girl in the world.
She encouraged people to never give in, demonstrating this to admirable effect in recent weeks. She wouldn’t want us to start now....
