Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 10th of September I will be running the 2017 Great North Run to raise money for the bat conservation trust.

I have always been fascinated by bats. They are amazing but sadly misunderstood creatures. My real love of them however developed when I worked with them in Canada. After fostering a critically ill big brown bat for a number of months I developed a deep affection for these sweet natured animals. I am currently registered with the bat conservation trust as a voluntary bat carer and I have recently worked with fruit bats in Australia.

The bat conservation trust is an organisation dedicated to the care, protection and well being of our bats in Britain. Our bats are an essential part of our ecosystem. They pollinate plants and control bugs. They are also amazing animals with some unique features and they need our help and protection.

This is my first attempt at running a half marathon and will be a real challenge. Please help me and the bats by donating, any donation and encouragement will be well received and much appreciated.

Thank you

Joanne

We are the leading NGO solely devoted to the conservation of bats. Bats play a vital role in our environment but during the last century have suffered severe declines. We are working to secure the future of bats by tackling threats such as persecution, loss of roosts and changing land use.
