Story
My name is Jo and, on Saturday 25th May, I have voluntered to throw myself out of an aeroplane at 15,000 feet to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
This is why:
My Mum first showed symptoms in May 2010 and was diagnosed later that year. She underwent several courses of chemotherapy which seems to be working. She was rushed into hospital in March 2011 with a suspected heart attack and breathing problems, and was fighting for her life for several weeks. She was finally allowed home and after the all-clear for her heart condition, she carried on with her treatment. All seemed to be going well, but the chemotherapy was really taking it out of her and her appetite was affected too. In November 2012 she was admitted to hospital again, and had a spell in Hull for an operation to unblock her stent (again). Unfortunately she never made it home - after 3 weeks in hospital her kidneys started to fail and nothing more could be done.
She died peacefully on the morning of Sunday 2nd December 2012.
She is very muched loved and missed by both me, my dad, my sister and my two children.
The PCRF needs donations to fund their vital research into this disease which has seen no increase in it's survival rate for 40 years - only 3% of those diagnosed live for 5 years - my Mum had 2 1/2.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be funding the jump myself so all the donations will be going straight to the PCRF.
