Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  For those of you that don't know the last couple of years have been tough emotionally and physically for Jo and all those close to her.

Jo
'In 2013 after an operation to remove a cyst I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Ovarian Germ Cell. My care was immediately transferred from Oxford to Charring Cross Hospital in London under Professor Seckl as this is one of two hospitals that specialise in Germ Cell Cancers.
I was monitored for a year however unfortunately the cancer came back but in my Para Aorta Lymph nodes this time.
I went through 10weeks of intense chemotherapy, but it wasn't giving up easily and scans later showed it had still not got rid of all the disease. I was operated on once more to remove the remaining cancer in November 2014.
This was followed by a further week of chemotherapy just before Christmas 2014 and 2 Rounds of High dose Chemotherapy with Stem Cell Transplant in the first 5months of 2015.
I have been in Remission since I finished High Dose chemo in May 2015 and we are all extremely hopeful that this nightmare is over!
If it wasn't for Professor Seckl and his team at Charring Cross we know I would not be sat here writing this let alone able to walk 10k.'

Rachel
'The charity is also very close to myself as obviously it has all had a massive affect emotionally on Jo's friends and family.  I wanted to show my support and help an amazing charity.  I felt by taking part in a sponsored event I could help give something back to the people who have helped Jo to ensure they can fund further research.  Also to support and encourage Jo with re gaining her fitness and strength.'

Cancer Treatment and Research Trust is headed by Professor Seckl and they are constantly researching into germ cell cancers. We want to help raise money and awareness to help fund more research and to help other people who have gone through or going through the nightmare Jo has had these past couple of years.
