Story
Hi everyone!
PLEASE PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS:
I am aiming to raise as much money as I can for the teenage cancer trust charity. As everyone knows I am a hairdresser and my hair means a lot to me... however I have the most incredible, inspirational friend Neil Vines. Neil has been battling against cancer since August 2012, he has been through so much its unbelievable yet he remains his positive smiley self!! With being a fit, healthy personal trainer and model, Neil had everything going for him however during his travels in Crete 2 years ago he began to get pains in his neck which seemed nothing until the pain got unbearable that he had to fly home. After having an MRI scan it was discovered that Neil had been diagnosed with cancer of the spine and a brain tumour. Following brain surgery, by September 2012 the pressure in his spinal chord stopped movement in his limbs. After having surgery again on his spine the following months were taken up with 4 lots of chemotherapy and 5 weeks of twice a day radiotherapy. In February 2013 Neil had a high dose of chemo which completed his treatment. After a routine scan it was then discovered there was a change detected in a different part of his brain and got diagnosed as another tumour. It was then on Christmas eve 2013 he underwent surgery followed by 6 months of oral chemo in January 2014. Neil's next goal was to be able to walk again and after sheer perseverance Neil took his first steps unaided in July after being in a wheelchair for months. But this wasn't the end ... he then went through more treatment called Avastin and now has minimal sensation and shaking vision. Neil's vision was affected and he has his eyelid stitched together to try and prevent any infection and double vision. He then had hydrotherapy to try to help his balance and is spending time in Bristol hospital. Up to today the tumour hasn't changed and everything is stable. Neil will continue to have scans but meanwhile my amazing friend is keeping busy going off on his mobility scooter, always having a laugh and being the most strongest person I've ever met and I'm so grateful to have him in my life
