We raise funds for The National Hospital to improve the lives of neurology patients

Story

I feel very proud and privileged to be able to say I work at the National Hospital

for Neurology and Neurosurgery and I feel passionately about the work we do, helped significantly by the fundraising of The National Brain Appeal. On this occasion I am raising money for The National Brain Appeal’s £2 million

Operating Theatres appeal. The National Hospital is now the largest

neurosurgery unit in the UK and the number of patients requiring complex

spinal surgery is rising 20% year on year (in part due to new surgical

techniques and research resulting in more effective treatments). In order to

cope with this surge in demand, two new state-of-the-art operating theatres are needed alongside an upgrade of the four existing theatres. These new bespoke facilities will reduce waiting times for surgery, improve patient care and outcomes, and spearhead research into new treatments.
