We raise funds for The National Hospital to improve the lives of neurology patients

Story

In June 2014 my beautiful, wonderful mum was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) aged just 64 years old. This degenerative brain disease has completely ruined her life. I have watched helplessly as my mum's personality has changed beyond recognition and, as the condition has progressed, how she is now unable to do basic tasks, doesn't recognise family and requires around the clock care.

FTD is one of the most common causes of dementia in people under 65 and yet is very unknown, misunderstood and, as with all forms of dementia, there is no cure.

I have signed up to run the London Marathon for The National Brain Appeal as they work closely with the Rare Dementia Support Group, provide invaluable support to families coping with the effects of a neurological disorder and do incredible, much needed research at The National Hospital, Queen's Square, London.

I am not a runner so this is going to be the challenge of my lifetime. But I am determined to find a positive in the negative that is dementia and raise money for a charity I feel very strongly about.

Please dig deep and support me as I'm sure I'm going to need all the support I can get!!
