Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
Chris, Jo, Jake and Millie and other like-minded individuals connected with Vyners school, Ickenham, are taking on the National 3 Peaks challenge over the weekend of Saturday 27th – Monday 29th June. This involves climbing and descending the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. Total distance is about 26 miles of hiking plus, of course, all the driving between each peak. The idea is to raise as much money as possible to support two causes; Asthma UK and Friends of Vyners which raises funds to provide equipment for the benefit of Vyners pupils.
In my wisdom(!), I found myself agreeing to be part of a team with Chris, Jake & Millie who were all enthusiastic about attempting to do the challenge within 24 hours. So now I find myself undergoing intense training to ensure I can keep up with two fit teenagers and Mr Marathon Man! We will also be joined in our team by Sam Fidge and Anna and Katharine Bowker, so there will be 3 adults sharing the driving between peaks and 4 teenagers to take turns in map reading and keeping the driver awake!
The school is supporting Asthma UK as recently two families connected to the school have been affected by a death due to asthma. One family recently lost their oldest son to an acute asthma attack while he was away at University. His younger brother attends Vyners School. Another ex-Vyners student lost her life to Asthma just before Christmas, so supporting this charity has been fully endorsed by all those connected to the school. Three people a day die of asthma and research is funded by Asthma UK. However it does not get as much support as some of the other national charities.
Please help us raise as much as possible for these 2 charities. Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and totally secure.
